Section 1
No person shall be tried more than once for the same criminal offense after acquittal or conviction.
Section 2
A person shall not be subjected to multiple punishments for the same offense.
Section 3
Federal and state governments shall not prosecute a person separately for the same conduct unless distinct offenses under their laws are clearly established.
Section 4
This protection shall apply in all criminal proceedings.
